Are you ready to take the leap of being self employed? This leap will be the best journey of your life. But it's not all fun and games. You have the snazzy title of “boss” or “CEO”; but know you have to make the decisions. Make the wrong ones and be a flop or make the right ones and be wealthy for the rest of your life!
It's Not All Fun And Games
Most people think that owning a home business would be the best. No longer are you on someone else's time you are on your own time. You no longer have to answer to anybody but yourself. Set your schedule, set your work load, and set up that spa or golf day.
ARE YOU DREAMING?!
Of course that is true if you want to be a flop! If you only work 2 hours per day and then have the rest of the day for stress relief then your business will not succeed. I am here to tell you that you CAN succeed by following these tips I am about to share with you on the mistakes of self employment.
1) Not Putting In Your Hours
You have to send e-mails, make phone calls, market and the list can go on and on. Do you think you can be productive and get all of this done in 30 minutes or even 2 hours? There is no way you can do all of this and get anywhere ahead in your business. You must spend several hours per day to have a successful business. Don't let the lack of working hours be your mistake of self employment.
2) Spending Too Much Money
This has never been easier in today's world; thanks to the internet. You need a new keyboard, a lamp, another computer screen, etc. All you have to do is get online and BAM you have what you want in a matter of seconds. But this is a mistake of self employment! Don't go negative before you business has not had the chance to be successful. Think to your self is this a need or a want?
3) You Hear No's…So You Want To Give Up
If you are in a business of selling to the people, for example insurance, you are going to hear a lot more NO's then YES'S. This is okay and everybody goes through this struggle. What you need to do is write down goals. A good goal is that 10% of the people you talk to will say yes. If you hear a no then you must keep a smile on your face and be polite…you just never know when they will knock on your door for that opportunity they turned down!
4) Not Seeking A Mentor
You along with everybody else need a shoulder to lean on and an ear to talk to. Find a mentor in your field of work to help you work out the kinks in the business. If they have been successful in their business more than likely they have crossed the bridge that you are trying to go over. They can help you out, give you suggestions, and prevent some of the mistakes of self employment.
Self Employment Is Amazing
If you are considering being self employed and are nervous…then you are human! This can be a frightful journey and the feeling of being a failure has crossed every business owners' mind. This journey will be an amazing one…you will make the mistakes of self employment; but what you need to do is learn from your mistakes and not repeat them!
